New to SooN Cooking?

No problem! Some quick background on the concept: I love to cook and realized that I often had to adjust my meal plan to accomodate for for my friends and family with dietary requirements when they joined me for a meal.  More often than not, I didn’t know how to modify my recipe to address their dietary needs which launched me into some deep research and left me with a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt that I was preparing the recipe the right way for my guest.  A concept that I now call Meal Planning FUD [fear, uncertainty and doubt]. To combat Meal Planning FUD each of my recipes has eight variations which covers everything from vegetarian to Kosher to gluten-free so that you can cut the Meal Planning FUD out of your life and feel comfortable serving the recipe to a variety of guests. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Salsa
  • 1/4 cup Butter

Original

 

#1: Combine Ingredients

Combine the ingredients in the pot.

 

#2: Cook

Bring mixture to boil 3-5 minutes. Cook on medium high [setting 5/10] for 10 minutes, mixing often.

 

#3: Finish and Serve

Salsa Sauce is a great way to finish Pork Carnitas, Steak Tacos, Huevos Rancheros and Prawns.

 

Express

The Original is pretty fast. That said, if you don’t have time to make the Classic Salsa recipe — all you need is any store bought fresh red salsa. You can elevate it to Simple Salsa Sauce status by adding butter to it and following the Original directions.

Vegetarian

The Original recipe is Vegetarian.

Kosher

Make sure to use Kosher certified products when serving [recipe name] to someone who keeps Kosher.

Halal

Make sure to use Halal certified products when serving when serving [recipe name] to someone who keeps Halal.

Celiac

Make sure none of the ingredients used to make the stock have gluten in them.

for One

Simple Salsa Sauce is a great way to eliminate salsa waste. After following the for One Classic Salsa recipe you should have enough to cover your snacking needs and make this sauce. I suggest 1 TBS of butter for every 1/4 cup of salsa. 

for Kids

It took some convincing, but once my kiddos were willing to try the salsa sauce, they discovered how much they like it. It took about 10 attempts so keep trying if they haven’t come around yet!

Dear SooN Cooks of the internet,

Similar to the Classic Salsa recipe, 1000% of the credit goes to San Carlos Restaurant. While it is not exactly Beef Wellington — the directions here are my attempt to copycat what the restaurant calls Santa Fe Sauce.
